What is a Content Management System?
CMS is an administrative area within your site, which only you have access to. Upon login, it allows you to maintain the content of your web site easily and quickly without buying or installing any software. The majority of our web sites feature a CMS which works using a "fill in the blanks" methodology. You drill down to the specific "block" of content on your site that you want to edit by clicking a series of links. You see the text in form fields which you simply edit with new information. You can also delete old information such as past events (or we can set up code to auto delete based on rules you give us), and adding new content is a matter of filling in a series of form fields and clicking a Save button. Visit our CMS Demo to try it out.
I've noticed that on my Mac some of the fonts appear differently then they do on my PC at work. Any idea why this is happening?
If you do not have a font installed on your computer (be it a Mac or a PC) you will NOT be able to see text written in the font and your computer will substitute with a font that it does have installed. This is why we stick with common (and sometimes boring) fonts such as Arial and Verdana for the main text of your web site. So that the text will look the same on ALL computers because all computers have a few common fonts.
Why is having text on my pages important?
Search engines read (and remember) text. There are ways to insert "keywords" into images but that is not as affective alone as when combined with text that describes your business, services, organization or products. When you have good descriptive text, combined with closely matching page titles, image names and linking, your web site will rank higher and be found more frequently.
Why should I exchange links? (Why have a Links page?)
Exchanging links with other sites helps you in several ways. First, it is a chance to put more text onto your pages by adding a description with each web site you link to. If you exchange links with companies that complement your business or organization that is a great way to use more keywords that you want your site to be found for. Second, when the other site links back to you, it is one more chance that someone will visit your site because they found you on another web site they trusted. Third, many search engines rank you higher depending on the number incoming links you have to your site.
